Alfred G. Sellers (1918-2014)

8 September 2014

On behalf of myself and the ISAO Board of Directors, we would like to pass on our deepest condolences to the family of Alfred G. Sellers.   Mark Procunier, a good friend to Al, was kind enough to send this to me, and I am forwarding it on to you...

“Alfred George Sellers (Al) passed away on August 27, 2014, in his 97th year. He was a proud veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Governor General’s Horse Guards. He will be dearly missed by his beloved and loving wife Marie (Mary A.) of 68 years. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States.

Al was one of the original ISA (Ontario) Presidents (1959); and was presented with  many awards for his service and volunteering over his lengthy career in arboriculture; mostly as the long-serving Vice-President of Cedarvale Tree Services, Toronto, and in semi-retirement as a consulting arborist.

Al was very active in the industry; and was a mentor to many of the GTA’s current leaders in commercial arboriculture. So much so; that even in recent years, many of these tree industry leaders would stop in to visit Al, either to socialize or to seek advice on a particular problem.

Al was challenged by poor health over the past number of years, and unable to attend ISAO conferences; but those who were lucky enough to know Al will still miss him greatly..."

Thanks Mark, for passing this on and for sharing it with our membership.

Best,

John Ransom
