OUFC Targets 440 Municipalities

Recently the Ontario Urban Forest Council (OUFC), recognizing the importance of the destructive environmental and economic impact of the Emerald Ash Borer, sent a "Call to Action" to 440 Ontario municipalities. The intent was to raise awareness at and beyond the municipal level of this spreading environmental disaster across the province and other jurisdictions in Quebec and the United States.

In Ontario, regional and local governments are going to be forced to deal with this issue over the coming decade – or sooner – at the taxpayer's expense. Please contact your local municipality to find out what their intent is on this imported “uncosted aspect of international trade” insect.

Contacting and raising this issue with your local MPP and MP will help raise awareness at the provincial and federal levels for more helpful action in terms of support, research, funding and management programs to your local municipality and conservation authority.

Our mission is to enhance and promote the care and benefit of trees for present and future generations in Ontario through education, research and awareness.
