Grand River Conservation Authority – Forestry Operations Coordinator


The Grand River Conservation Authority has an opportunity for a Forestry Operations Coordinator. Reporting to the Supervisor of Forestry, this position is responsible for the planning and implementation of the Hazard Tree Policy on GRCA lands. Responsibilities include providing technical support to the Supervisor on forestry-related projects, conducting tree maintenance inspections and recommending appropriate corrective actions, coordinating and directing staff and outside contractors to complete required tree maintenance, assisting with private land tree planting and oversee volunteer planting projects, completing special projects as required and providing administrative support to the Supervisor in the area of equipment and work records. This position works a 35 hour workweek and the pay range is $23.05 to $28.82 per hour.

Qualified candidates will have a diploma in a related field, five years of relevant work experience and a valid Ontario Certified Arborist Certificate is preferred, although ISA certification will be considered. The successful candidate must possess a valid driver’s licence, MOE Forestry and Landscape Exterminators licence and have experience in the operation of chainsaws, pole saws, chippers and related equipment and hand tools. Proficiency with MS Office and mapping software (ArcView, ArcMap and GIS) are required and candidates must possess exceptional communication, interpersonal and project management skills.
