ABOUT THE CANADIAN TREE FUND
Spring 2010 News: Jack Kimmel Gets Worldwide Recognition!
The Canadian TREE Fund is a registered charitable organization (Reg. # 889296638RR0001) that was established in 1996 to promote and help fund arboricultural research in Canada. It is administered by the secretary/treasurer and overseen by a board of trustees.
The mission of The Canadian TREE Fund is to identify significant environmental, biological, social and economic needs related to tree genetics, management and care and provide funding for innovative basic/applied research and education.
Research and educational projects funded by The Fund must be in keeping with this mission statement. Information and knowledge gained from the research is shared with arborists who practice in municipal, commercial and utility operations as well as educators, students and other researchers. To date, the trust has awarded close to 50 grants totaling close to $350,000 for the funding of research projects.
It has become increasingly important for society to consider promoting and preserving its natural environment, for which trees play a significant role. Research serves to enhance arborists understanding of developing, selecting and managing trees for the benefit of future generations.
