CANADIAN TREE FUND NEWS
January/February 2010
Making a Difference to The Future of Urban Forestry
The Canadian TREE Fund received a wide range of project proposals for funding this year, both in research and education. Your trustees worked hard in December to read all of the proposals and then rank them. After that, we met to discuss the projects and their rankings in order to vote on which projects would receive funding in 2010. We also had telephone conference participation for this meeting with Phil Graham, our British Columbia trustee. Many thanks go to our dedicated trustees for volunteering their time and thoughts throughout this process. Of the 16 proposals received by the deadline (December 1st, every year), we voted to support four projects, for a total of $29,200. Click here to view the details.
For those who submitted proposals and were unsuccessful, on behalf of the Canadian TREE Fund trustees, I would like to express appreciation and say thank you for your interest in the Fund. Making the selections this year was not an easy process, as many of the projects were well prepared and addressed a number of current issues affecting the arboriculture industry. It is regrettable that we were unable to support more of the projects next year provides another opportunity.
In conclusion, I would like to remind everyone that the Ontario Chapters 61st Annual Conference Getting Back To Our Roots will soon be upon us. As usual, the Canadian TREE Fund will be present to kick off a new campaign year. As in the past, we will be hosting a silent auction, in addition to providing lots of other opportunities for you to support our worthwhile cause. Canadian TREE Fund is an excellent way to give something back to help secure your future and bolster the advancement of our industry.
And remember you can donate to Canadian tree fund anytime, enabling us to fund future projects
