Ascent Event World Record Attempt at the 2024 OTCC

We’ll be holding an Ascent Event World Record Attempt at the 2024 OTCC.
It will be held on Saturday afternoon Sept 21, 2024 (after preliminaries and before the Masters).
We will comply with ITCC rules for the Attempt (see Appendix 1). Note we will not be holding a Head-to-Head Ascent.

How can you qualify to compete in the Saturday Ascent Event World Record attempt?

For 2024 OTCC Competitors

If you are a competitor on the 2024 OTCC Competitor Roster:

  • You don’t need to do anything (other than practice!)
  • We’ll use the times from the 2024 OTCC preliminary Ascent Event as your qualifying time.
  • The fastest 5 men and fastest 3 women in the preliminary Ascent Event will be offered the opportunity to climb in the World Record Attempt on Saturday afternoon. (Those fastest climbers are not required to participate in the Record Attempt, but will be given the opportunity).

For 2024 OTCC Volunteers & OTCC Waitlist

If you are a 2024 OTCC Volunteer, or are on the 2024 OTCC Competitor Waitlist:
You will complete a pre-qualifying climb on Thursday Sept 19 in the afternoon or evening. Here’s how it will work:

  • You must fill out the online form below by Sept 13 at 11:59 PM.
  • You must complete gear check before you climb on Thursday (bring your gear and a completed gear check form to the park).
  • In order to climb in the World Record Attempt on Saturday: your time must be within the top 5 fastest men's scores (for men) or top 3 fastest women's scores (for women) from the 2024 OTCC Ascent event preliminaries. Of the pre-qualifying climbers who are within those fastest times: we will allow up to 3 additional climbers to attempt on Saturday.
